I am Hungarian, but I have the British nationality too. I have graduated from university 20 years ago in Hungary. I am an English teacher with QTS. Predominantly I taught EFL, but since 2017, when I moved to the UK, I have been teaching EAP.
What made you want to apply to your course and to Leeds?
Since I was an EAP tutor I wanted to formally train as an EAP Tutor. This is the reason I applied to the course. I chose Leeds because they provide an online MA course.
What is it that makes you passionate about your area of study?
This is my job, how I make my living, and I want to know more about it. It is my CPD.
What do you think of your course so far – what aspects of the course have you enjoyed the most or are looking forward to the most?
I enjoy all aspects of the course, however I find it challenging at times.
How do you find learning through the online learning facilities at Leeds?
I find Minerva easy to navigate.
How do you find the student support from the School?
Tutors are very supportive. 5 stars. I have never had such a positive experience.
What would you say to anyone thinking of applying to your course?
Just do it.
What has been the biggest challenge throughout your course and how did you overcome it?
It is challenging to find time for studying while working full time and having 2 small children. However, with excellent time management skills, it is doable.
What do you plan to do once you’ve finished your course? What are your career aspirations?
Maybe do more research in the field of EAP and possibly publish a journal article.
What would you say are the main advantages of studying this programme online?
It gives a lot of flexibility.
