Our free on-campus and online events will help you find out more about our foundation year courses and full/part-time degrees for adult learners.

You can also join our general sessions, where we’ll cover topics such as student finance, returning to education and support for mature students.

Upcoming events

Applicant drop-in sessions: Every Tuesday afternoon

In these sessions we’ll help you with completing your application for courses taught by the Lifelong Learning Centre, applying for student finance, writing your personal statement and anything else you need help with.

Our weekly applicant drop-in sessions run every Tuesday afternoon from 1pm to 4pm. In addition, from Monday 28 July until Tuesday 5 August our applicant drop-in sessions will run from 10am to 4pm every weekday to give you the best possible chance of making a successful application for entry onto one of our courses in September 2025.

There’s no need to book for our applicant drop-in sessions – you can just turn up.

An introduction to part-time student finance: 19 August 2025

Tuesday 19 July, 6–7.30pm

Are you thinking about applying to university to study a part-time degree? Do you want to find out more about the financial support available to you? 

Join us online to learn about:

  • Applying for student finance as a part-time or full-time student 
  • Loans and grants available from Student Finance England for part-time and full-time degree courses 
  • Additional financial assistance you may be entitled to 
  • Support available to mature students at the University of Leeds.

Studying as a mature student: 4 September 2025

Thursday 4 September, 10.00am–1.30pm

Are you an adult looking to return to study?

This in-person event will dispel myths and answer common questions about studying at university as a mature student.

You will:

  • Find out about our courses and support for mature students here at the University of Leeds
  • Hear from some of our current mature students
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions relevant to your individual circumstances
  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided, and you’ll also have the opportunity to explore the University campus.

Adult learner autumn school: 16–18 September 2025

Tuesday 16–Thursday 18 September, 9.30am–2.30pm on each day

Thinking about university? Want to see what it’s like to study as a mature student? Join us in-person for this three-day event at the University of Leeds!

What is it?

An opportunity to:

  • Try out tasters of different subjects and explore what you could study
  • Learn about financial support for university
  • Connect with other adult learners in a welcoming, friendly environment

What’s provided?

  • Lunch and refreshments on all three days
  • Limited pre-school childcare places in the University nursery – please register as soon as possible and we’ll contact you to discuss your childcare needs

Who’s it for?

  • Adults who want to explore their education options and who have not already been to university (please note that if you already have a UK or overseas degree or are studying for an Access to HE Diploma this event will not be relevant to you)

Open Days: 4 and 18 October 2025

Discover how one day could change your life. Our Open Days are an opportunity to learn about our courses and explore campus. Our information sessions, which run throughout the year, cover topics such as student finance, returning to education and support for mature students.
